Rear A/C blowing hot air....

Rear A/C blowing hot air....
Ok did some searching and trouble shooting and here's what I came up with.
1. Rear switch on cold (easiest to troubleshoot)
2. Pulled rear panel, checked blend doors both work.
3. TVX or whatever its called nice and cold with A/C on. (metal block)
4. Switched between hot and cold and hot is hot! Cold is warm..
So it is my understanding the rear block can still be cold and not cool if not working correctly, is that correct? and if the coolant block off valve in the engine bay is not working then hot water is sent to the rear, how important is that to work correctly? Does it cause the hot water to warm the cool air? I did turn off the rear for about 5 minutes then when I turned it back on cool air came out, but quickly turned to warm air.
Thanks,
Art
