Hi all!
I am looking to add vac assist brakes to my '66 f-250. Anyone done this? I have looked over the entire engine and can't seem to find anywhere to pull a vac from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much,
Steve
p.s. mine is a custom cab camper special. What's the difference with the cab?
Welcome to FTE. If you have a 352 with the stock 2-barrel, there is a vacuum port on the intake manifold on the passenger side.
Thanks! I saw the plug and just wasn't sure. There is also a plug on the intake manifold right behind the carb. Do you think that's a vac port as well?
I don't know what type brake booster you have in mind to install but, I used a dual diaphragm booster from a '75 F350 in my '69 F100, along with installing the front suspension/discs from a '77 F100. --well, I got the booster and brackets off of a '75 F350. I reused the brackets but traded the booster (core) in on a newly rebuilt booster.
If this question is in reference to me, the (new) MC I used is for a 1995 Ford Explorer. NAPA p/n M3246.
It has ISO metric bubble flare ports. The primary port requires an M10 x 1.0 fitting. The secondary port requires an M12 x 1.0 fitting.
The MC bore diameter is 1.062" (1-1/16").
There are two different versions of this MC. One is designed for cruise control and one without. My MC is designed w/o CC.
However, my setup is in a '69 F100 Ranger. My brake light switch is inside the cab. For a '66 or earlier model truck, the Explorer MC, for CC, would probably be the better choice.
If you look back at my previous photo, you'll notice there's a 'rhino horn' (casting boss) sticking up on the front of the MC body. On a '95 Explorer MC w/CC, this boss will be drilled and tapped for a 3/8"-24 pressure switch. This would be a good spot to screw the brake light pressure switch into, for a '66 or earlier model truck.

Hey ultraranger, did you have to add any brackets to this 95 Booster and MC ?
