Need help asap stuck out in field...shorted column wire issue
So the wire in my column started shorting out again and popping the fuse....but one of my workers swapped it out with a 30 amp and it popped the big long rectangle weird looking fuse and something else....I. Changed the bad fuses but still no go ....is there another fuse in the system ? I don't have an owners manual to check. ( 2002 f250 7.3l)
Then your idiot employee who put a 30A fuse in there probably burned out a trace in the fuse box or some other small current link in the circuit. There's a reason that that specific values of fuses are used - to prevent such a preventable failure.
we could probally talk you thru testing the hot side of the circut to the first fuse pin and testing the resistance of the load side of the fuse pin...but I am getting a sense that you are better off finding someone with the right tools and experience to help you.
a clue is you will need a fuse extender, a multi meter, and quite possibly a fuse socket tester, and about 10 feet of wire, and a few of the properly rated fuses.
the deal is if you burned out the hot side of the trace which powers the fuse...you can work around that. but if you burned out the load side....major work.
You are correct in that I am not a trained technician , but I am a farmer which means I can figure anything out. What I need is a wiring diagram for the number 45 fuse circuit so I can see what wires to follow
