Courier 2.3 head info wanted...

Is the Courier head the same as the Pinto head? Did they run the same cam?
If not dose anyone know the major differences?

Nope, it is not the 2.0 Mazda, it is a 2.3 lima. I've already bolted on a 2.3 pinto long tube aftermarket header and bolted on an 87 ranger pan. (Both STILL won't fit in the engine bay of the hot rod!)

Rangers had a different exhaust port, so if the header had the same port as your head, you should be ok. And you may have to go with a pinto oil pan where the sump is in front. The pinto and courier both were pretty snappy, so the cam may be close to each other.

The Courier 2.3L Lima is the same. There is no difference on the exhaust side of the 2.3L heads. Some may have holes for the AIR system. This includes the boat and industrial engines.
The intakes varried thru the years with the oval, D shape, round port and in the 90's they went to the DIS style engines, with an equal spaces D port intake. No distributors.
The D port intake can be used on the oval port head. years are not spot on, however close. Oval port 74 - 80, D port is 81 thru 94. The 81-83 Round port manifold is all by itself as is the 95 and later DIS engines.
There is a lot of accurate tech info on www.powerbyace.com
