Friendly Ford Sucks

A few weeks ago I was heading to Texas to a roping for a week.....left the ranch on Sunday morning......drove 30 miles and my 14 350 DRW started spewing fuel all over my new trailer, truck and the highway....had to call AAA and have one my guys bring me another truck.......Carthage Ford called me on Monday and asked if I had it serviced lately....sure did before I left for the trip at Friendly Ford in Springfield, Mo.......said someone hadn't connected the lines back to the new fuel filters correctly.......called Friendly and the guy who checked me in for the service wasn't concerned....said just come in when you can.......went to Friendly twice and the service manager was at lunch....service writer asked what I wanted...I told him I would just like the $80 Carthage had to charge me and the 1/2 tank of fuel paid for ....said he would check on it ....I called back the next day and he couldn't remember me.....finally they sent me a check and spelled my name Vick instead of Dick on the check. They have yet to apologize for the screwup! When I bought the truck new I asked the service manager if I could have the same mechanic work on my truck every time if I used them for service....."no problem"....I have yet to see that guy!.....TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.....STAY AWAY!

Sounds like you had a frustrating experience all around, Map Man 1. I'll document this feedback about Friendly Ford for the appropriate folks to see. To make that happen, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, dealer info, and any specifics you'd like me to include.

Hi Map Man 1,

Could you give it another shot? I received several PMs this morning; perhaps it was just a temporary glitch. Thanks!

Same thing happened to me on my first Ford Tech installed fuel filter change. Fuel line not clipped correctly and when it came off I was pulling our 5th wheel. Diesel fuel coated truck under carriage and fuel even under the trailer. Service rep offered free oil change though Im not doing business with this dealer anymore. I was told it was a new tech that performed the work.

Similar problem with me. Tech left oring off of the fuel filter. I made a paper gasket and returned to the dealer. They fixed the fuel leak and gave me my keys. No sorry, no offer to make the fuel loss right, just don't let the door hit you on the way out. I don't go back there.

Change my own fuel filters. Takes all of about 15 min. I know it's done right.

Some people dont want to be bothered and pay to have a competent ford dealership do the work which I can understand..Where in lies the problem. Not a competent shop.I do my own service too but there will come a day very very soon that I just dont want to do it anymore.I just hope my local dealer is competent.

Suggest you see the post I just put up about sticker shock. I'm thinking I'll be doing mine as long as I'm on the green side.

StanleyZ - Yep... And then you know it is done right too. Sad...

The first two times I had my 2011 serviced by two DIFFERENT Ford dealers they messed up. One put too much oil in and the other added the wrong additive to the coolant after they used a 6.4 test strip and of course it showed the coolant needed nitrites. Both dealerships made it right, but it took a lot of time and fuel driving back and forth...

Problem is the fuel and oil changes at most places are considered entry level tech work, even on a diesel... And as those of us that do our own maintenance know, it isn't "hard" to do, but it is different than anything else out there. A few seconds to double check your work and it comes out fine, get in a hurry, get distracted and it's catastrophe.

So far I have had a good experience at the local dealer up here in Alaska... So when I don't want to go outside in the cold and do maintenance, they will get my business.
