I have a 87 f250 3/4 ton pu. 351W with the c6. I just put a cab off a 89 f350 with the 460 5 speed manual. Does anybody know if i have to switch the whole wiring harness inside the cab? Everything looks the same and plugs in but now my dash dont work and im getting no power to the coil. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Swapping the cab wiring would work, but it is quite likely you can troubleshoot what you have. Key is to get EVTM's for both years and compare the wiring. Alternative would be to look up the wiring diagrams online from sources like this.
It is important to use the correct ECM for your engine, but swapping the ECM will not produce the symptoms you described.
It may be helpful to look at the cab firewall connector and compare the wire colors. Sometimes you can get a nudge in the right direction if you notice a color change, or a difference in pin utilization.
