Hi guys,
I am not new to the site but new to this vehicle that I am looking at purchasing. I have been reading threads trying to figure out my answer before asking the question but sometimes that's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The truck i am going to look at tomorrow says that the truck runs great but after you drive it for a while it will spit and backfire and die but will crank back up, he believes it to be the egr valve. This doesn't sound logical to me but the majority of my mechanical abilities are earlier year vehicles without egr or we just bypassed them. Any suggestions will be appreciated

 

I'd take a code reader along -- may be a simple heat issue with one of the sensors. 5.0s are generally/easily very fixable and the parts relatively inexpensive.
