Cab off

So i recently did/finished my cab off job. Ill cut/paste the thread from .org forum here for ease....

*
"Well, its been a wild busy week so far!
I said **** it and went for it. Fast forward to today and I have Pass side head off, just about to take driver side off, after removing injectors etc.
P.Side head 'appears', using a .004" feeler to be unwarped, hope D.side is the same, only just started puking a few weeks ago and I havent drove much, so I think I got on it in a pretty reasonable time.

Honestly, the hardest part without the having of a 2 poster is the actual lifting of the cab. I lost my job so I dont have access to shop,cranes,picker trucks anymore so I had to borrow a buddies truck. Ive done everything SOLO so far and the cab part wasnt fun.

*Truck has 102,000 km on it* *Spartan tuned and deleted since ~45,000 km)

Parts list thus far, Ordered and on their way;
1) BD manifolds and Up-pipes (in hand)
2) ARP studs (in hand)
3) Ford Valve Grind kit (upper engine gaskets,seals etc)
4) RCD Chromoly Pushrods
5) Rudy heavy duty valve springs
6) OEM Rocker Arms
7) Lifters (oem)
8) New style Degas bottle
9) New belts
Just under $5k with that list :tard: (cdn money, which is awful right now)

Things Im considering;
1) Ported Intake
2) Body mounts (all mine are in great shape)
3) O-ringing heads
4) Oil Cooler (probably not going too, no sign of clogging and been running ELC cat for a while)
5) Anything else?????

Picture time:::::

Ok. So I didnt end up doing the ported intake...not for the lack of trying. I had one ordered and paid for but there was a mix up and on back order so I had to cancel. I almost attempted to drill out posts myself but didnt go for it,....

So what I did do;
Bd manifolds+up pipes (quite the sound change)
New degas bottle
Machined heads (no cracks, tested good)
oil cooler (oem)
Lifters (oem)
Chromoly pushrods (rcd)
rockers (oem)
HD valve springs (rcd/rudys)
Ac + Serp belts
fuel filters
oil/filter
coolant filter
wrapped up pipes + downpipe
led headlights (totally unrelated lol)

Few things I ran into along the way, broke RF body mount bolt and both cage nuts spun. The ford "valve grind kit" kind of leaves out a few essential items I feel, such as rocker box and valve cover gaskets---yeah they are rubber and reusable which I did but good thing I didnt throw them away! The copper washers on the HPFP lines and the one copper on the sec. fuel bowl...

The BD kit also expects you to re-use the manifold bolts you take out, minus the stud ones on passenger side (x3)....Yeah, like F**k im reusing those rusty, stripped ****ty bolts.... Anyways, got some new hardware from fastenal...

Put manifolds on heads prior to installing heads, sweet baby jesus those heads are heavy! New gaskets in place, place heads on, run in studs and backed off 1/2 turn ( cleaned out holes real nice). Torqued to my wrenches max of 250ft/lbs and then a touch more with breaker bar....(arp calls for 275) Plenty of arb supplied lube on boths sides of washers and nuts!!

Got new lifters/valvetrain in place, fuel lines, valve covers on, intake on, few other items on pass. side. Then realized I forgot to replace the lil washers on tips of injectors!!!! Good thing I didnt get too far! So took off covers, did one injector at a time. Good to go. Front end parts - PS pump, alternators, wiring, etc. Smooth sailing til I got to the fan/water pump ( took off as a unit, Wasnt able to seperate clutch fan from pump..) I put pump in, bolted up the 5 bolts and forgot the fan shroud had to go on at the same time/in behind pump,lol so back out with water pump... wasted an hour or so there...no biggie.
Everything buttoned up, got my picker lined up for cab! The part I actually was NOt looking forward too...
Cab time - - - - - Actually went pretty smooth, I made a homemade equalizer to spread out the load force against the straps lifting cab, should of taken a picture, damn!
Couple hours later cab in place.
Later that night, tuesday I think it was, I started to hook everything up...didnt take long at all, took me a couple hours.

Next morning, I went to ford to get the teflon washers for the hydro boost lines and a new body mount bolt.
Spent a while priming fuel system......little while later she fires up!
Everything sounds "right" minus a tick I hear from what I believe to be under valve covers.lease: I hope its just new parts wearing in...The different sound from the manifolds had me for a minute too! lol
Sounds sooooo much better!!
Let it run for a few mins, go for a ride around the block a couple times, the ticking noise faded away (hasnt returned as of now)
Cool! I didnt totally f*** anything up!?!?! lease:

Yesterday, I fire up truck to go do a few things around town, I went inside house, came back out and the dashdaq alarm going off! Uh-oh....boost psi is reading 59psi !!!??? wtf?
Ok, well I know something is fishy. Long story short, I cleaned a bunch of connections, map sensor, maf sensor........blah blah. I got a new map sensor as it was out to lunch. Problem solved. (baro/ebp were reading same but the map was reading 37psi with KOEO)

Glad it all worked out! Can't say that I would have tackled all that...maybe when I was younger! Beautiful pictures!

Awesome work.
Getting it done in the yard is a challenge, but it seems you are more than up to the task!
Bravo!

It wasn't to bad a job. I'd tackle it again, or help someone else for sure.
