"Yeah, you need two electrical junctions."

We were up in the mountains and the truck sat in some impressive rain. Turns out the windshield was installed such that the top line was not sealed. Water got in and came down through the dash. Ultimately the radio and rear window motors stopped working. I was unable to find popped fuses.

Took it into the local dealer, not my usual, and I was told "Yah, you got water back behind that dash and you need to replace two junction boxes, $1400."

When I picked the truck up they told me they replaced some fuses and low-and-behold, everything works. They still want to replace these supposed junction boxes.

Anyone have any idea or experience as to whether or not these actually exist and what it takes to replace them? 1.4k seems very hefty.

The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) lives just above the interior fuse box.
Common problem for crappy windshield seals to cause water leakage into them.

The GEM has all kinds of relays and timers for various stuff throughout the truck. Should be called the "Body Control Module."

Get the windshield resealed, dry the sucker out, and keep your fingers crossed that nothing has corroded.
