I had the clamp in the wrong place on mine to start with. Try to position the clamp over the top of the indentation on the CAC pipe and the intercooler inlet. Then tighten them up real good. Cleanliness to start with is always good.

We got about 4 miles down the road on the way to the beach and popped the damn boot again. I am sick of this. On the side of the road, I put 2 clamps on the tube side of the boot going into the intercooler. We made it to the beach with a light pedal (I have not been able to see what this truck will do because I am afraid of popping boots off every time the boost gets above 24).

Yesterday, I checked them while looking the truck over and the 2 clamps were still tight but the turbo side was slightly loose this time. I took it off, cleaned with brake cleaner, reinstalled with hair spray, and tightened about as tight as I can with a 3/8" rachet. We didn't have any problems on the way back home and I was pretty hard on it too. Boost just above 27 once and 25 to 26 several times.

When I took off the original boots, they were stuck on and left part of the boot on the tubes when I cut them off. The truck ran just fine, so I don't think I have a problem with a clogged intercooler. I just think these boots should have the ridge like the oem ones do.

We are leaving for Yellowstone in 3 weeks, which will be close to 5000 miles round trip with some nice hills that will require plenty of boost. I do not want to be on the side of the road every time I find a hill. I don't know if I should buy some metal rings I found online that fit into the groove of the tubes, or pony up for some factory boots. Thoughts?

I find it hard to believe that the spring clamps only needed a little torque to work properly and I am tightening these almost as tight as I can get them. I started out torqueing them properly because I read about crushing the tubes with over tightening, but that didn't work at all.

I put these on BD Power - Product: Hose & Clamp Kit

Going on 2 years, on and off several times, no hair spray, been working fine. Clamps are more stout than oem as well as the hose, and they have the bead.

I just just tighten the clamps down till they stop. I learned a long time ago that trying to get a good torque reading on the spring clamps is tough.

Rusty you look smoking hot in that picture!

I have had the unpleasant experience on the side of a busy 5 lane highway a few months ago. I had no tools with me. Thanks to my wife driving behind me, I was supplied with tools.

When a boot blows off it makes a helluva noise! I thought I was shot at!
