I just replace my 6 .0 after 300,000 miles in my 2006 f250 diesel . Not two days later my check engine light comes on. Take it back . They clean my erg valve because the code says stuck open. Do this three times. I order on line a new one with a ten year warranty. Same code. Mech says because it is not a ford part it's triggering the code. Order from dealership another . Same code. New jasper motor, on my third valve . Mech is at a loss because unit it complete . Any ideas would be appreciated.
I don't remember the number , but he said the explanation for the code was " too much air flow" or " too much gas" his explamination is that it was stuck open. Hence the 3 to 4 times he tried to clean the original one.
MAF sensors can only be installed in one way in stock air filter housing. If the intake manifold and EGR cooler were swapped over from the old engine you will want to check for loose carbon breaking free and getting caught in the valve.
Personal experience says your not correct it is possible to install a maf backwords. Seen it 2x.
It's not an easy trick but it's been done.
It is also theoretically possible to suck a golf ball through a garden hose. The sensor and the bolt pattern should not allow the sensor to be installed backward to prevent this very thing from happening. This of course does not take into consideration that there are some real idiots out there that might insist on making this happen by modifying/damaging the sensor and or the housing. I will concede that there are some real idiots out there working on motor vehicles that should not be.

The jasper motors come "bullet proof" so that was all new. How ever turbo may be blowing some gunk. But they are able to open and shut them manually with diagnositic computer. So they are not stuck.
This mech is calling around , he has already eaten the cost of a ford erg valve because he was certain this was a proprietary issue . The one I bought was cheaper and after market. He can't return it so I have the ford one in now. I asked if there could be a poorly seated seal or grommet from jasper in the motor that was emitting oil or excessive fuel into the exhaust. He said maybe , the code reads " excessive air flow " it doesn't tell him why. But , he said if that were the case , other sensors would be showing other codes ..
