replacing thermostat housing

On my 1994 f-150 4.9/6 I replaced the thermostat and tourqued the housing too much and broke it.

I am trying to replace it now, but have the following problem:

the hose that goes to the heater has a metal connection which looks like it houses a sending unit (or is it a valve, dont know...), but that metal connection is at an angle.

I can not get the metal connection to tighten so that it is straight up, in other words, it ends up either lose and leaks, or tight and at an angle so I can not get the thermostat housing in place.

Anyone have any suggestions or a simple, "you do it this way?"

Much obliged.

replacing thermostat housing

There is a big house going to radiator, and a 1/2 inc hose going to A/C heater. There is also a Temperature sender installed on a 3/8NPT port wich is used by computer to know engine temp.

I'm not sure, but I gues your problem is on heater hose, isn't it? Using a very long screw driver or nut driver is the best way to get the hose clamp tight. You can tight before install housing on place.

Regards;
