Fuel issue

Hey all new to forum little help needed... I have a 88 f250 with 4.9l 4x4
I'm not getting any fuel... I can put 12 volts to the brown wire on the fuel pump relay socket and everything works she fires up and runs fine... Anyone know what might cause this failure? Thank you in advance for your help

Look up under the dash for the Inertia Switch. It is shown in this post: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8910819

Basically, it's a switch up above the pedals with a red button on it. The idea is that the switch will trip like a circuit breaker in the even of a crash and cut power to the fuel pumps.

Unfortunately, in typical 80s American manufacturing, they were made as cheaply as possible, so I have head some like to trip on sharp bumpy, or while wheeling out in the back country.

Unless you happen to have n owners manual and have read it front to back (I do and I have), you won't know it's there. Crawl under there and hopefully you just need to reset it.

Then it's going to have to do some basic electrical diagnosis, and study the factory schematics.

It could be the ignition switch, a broken wire, corroded connection, bad fusible link, or the computer itself. I've heard of the computers that have condensors fry in them and then cause that problem. I had that happen to me on a 5.0L powered 87 F250 LD. It seems like the late 80's -early 90's can have this problem.

But do like ZarK-eh mentioned. Break out a multimeter and the schematics and just work your way through the system.

This is the reason I like carbs! Good luck.
