Shocks.

Need to replace the stock factory shocks on my 05 F250. It is stock height and stock suspension. Anyone have any suggestions on a good brand to go with and place to go to get best deal. Not really sold on going back with the oem Motorcraft shocks, Thanks.

I went with Bilstein 4600 heavy duty from Shock Warehouse, $300 for all four corners for my truck. Not adjustable like Rancho 9000s, but they're stiff and that's what I wanted.
Bilstein - KYB - Rancho - Monroe - Edelbrock Automotive Truck Shocks and Struts - Shockwarehouse.com

Is there a need or benefit to install a steering too?

I did the Bilstein 4600s on mine too, in November.

Got them off ebay for a total of $250, 'course I'm not sure if the '05s have the same shocks or not.

On a coil spring truck, I would say yes on the steering stabilizer. {Death Wobble}

Ten years and I never had that problem with my 05.

After 200k miles, my FX4 "Rancho" stock shocks were nearly rusted out. Mine's a daily driver. I went with Bilsteins. Bought them from an ebay seller. I replaced the bent stock stabilizer with an OEM equivilent from a local auto parts store.

I just replaced my factory shocks with Rancho 9000XL and steering stabilizer and man what a difference. Also they are adjustable from 0-9 settings.

What store did you find a Rancho steering stabilizer?

Bilstein 5100's here, great shock, I've got an '04 leaf spring front end, leveled.

Stiff, but very controlled. I bang through corners very controlled even pulling a car trailer!

Just installed Rancho 9000's yesterday...... will re-address after towing. Factory had them set: 4 in front and 5 in back. I left 'em that way. Anyone got any more info on settings?

death wobble is caused by far more than a steering stabilizer. in some cases I feel the steering stabilizer could mask potentially worn our parts like tie rods.

If you are considering non-adjustables (and Bilsteins are great shocks), might also take a look at the Rancho 7000 series. I know Mark (Bismic) had a set on and really liked them, others here too...

Curious to see your thoughts. I am leaning towards the Ranchos.
