I purchased a 49 Panel with signed MD title. However, PA requires a VIN rubbing or verification of the body VIN by a licensed inspection mechanic. The firewall tag and glove box tag are gone, the entire dash from pillar to pillar was removed for some reason, and the truck is sitting loosely on a 79 F150 frame (original frame location is unknown).
Does anyone know a hidden place on the body where the VIN would have been stamped?
The only two locations I have found on my 48 were the Firewall tag and the frame.
Hey! maybe Nathen can cut the section from his scrap frame with the vin and you can weld it on the 79 frame, oh well just a thought.
Wow. Now that's a predicament. I know my 50 F1 pickup had the vin on the firewall, glovebox door, and right front upper frame side. But that won't help since you don't have the original frame. But.......don't some states let you register your vehicle according to the frame that it rides upon? Do you have a title for the 79 F150 frame?
hmmm....suppose some unknown person borrowed a set of number and letter punches.....and that same unknown person punched your 1949 Vin onto the truck frame while you were away....and suppose that you found this VIN stamped on the frame.....and suppose that you tried to get it registered then? What do you suppose would happen? Do you think it might work?
