I'm back and I thought I'd share the repairs we are making to our van. It is a work in progress, I have been raiding the junkyard and "Vintage" parts from Ford.
01. Repair damage to body from road salt -nasty
02. Repaint the body with Toreador Red Metallic - too many rock chips, and parking lot dings
03. Repair and repaint with copper metallic, the running boards chipped and scuffed
04. Replace Cowl Vent Screen and seal - sun rotted
05. Install new Mark III LXO Stripe Kit - faded and old
06. Replace Front and Rear bumpers - dented metal and scratched trim
07. Replace windshield and molding - windshield chipped, molding lifting and cracked
08. Replace Cargo Door Window Bolts - rusting
09. Replace Parking Brake Cable - frozen
10. Repair Emergency Air compressor - no air flow
11. Replace Rear Air Conditioning Lines - rusted
12. Replace Rear Heater tubes and hoses -rusted
13. Repair Rear blower motor - intermittent operation
14. Repair Mood Lighting -some working some not 15. Replace Leaf Springs - sagging COMPLETED
16. Replace Ball Joints - steering slop COMPLETED
17. Replace EGR System - threw code COMPLETED 18. Replace Wheel Speed Sensor, Left - rusted out COMPLETED
19. Replace Wheel Speed Sensor, Right - threw code COMPLETED 20. Replace ABS Control Module - ABS misfire diagnosed by Ford COMPLETED 21. Replace Wheel Bearing - ruined by ball joint installation COMPLETED
22. Replace Front Brakes - poorly installed by Ford COMPLETED
23. Install new rotor shields -missing 24. Alignment - overdue COMPLETED
25. Tire Rotation - overdue COMPLETED
26. Replace Wheel Speed Sensor Bolts - broken 27. Brake Flush - overdue COMPLETED

29. Replace Driver Door hinges - worn out
30. Replace full exhaust system - hack job rotted out 31. Install New tires COMPLETED

Got a spare grille from the junkyard, these are all parts I have collected and assembled myself. I painted the grille myself aswell.
We purchased new tires and were initially going to keep the "Z Racing" wheels on there. We somehow ran over a nail or a screw which ruined one tire so when the replacement tire came we decided that we wanted to go with original type Ford 9-Spoke wheels. My father and I decided that they were too far gone. We ordered 4 from RockAuto and when they came we changed each tire individually and then balanced it (one per day). The spare tire was also changed and the wheel color matched.
I think those Motorcraft SuperDuty Pads and Rotors were the same numbers I put on my 02, best money I ever spent! No noise or squeal......smooth as silk.
Here is the new bumper ready to go on. Just waiting for the weekend to be over to order parts from Ford. Should have the bumper back on about Thursday.
The interior is next. This includes reinstituting the rear air, and returning the van to a more stock interior. The conversion was sweet in 1998, but the electronics are all shoddy and old now. The old broadcast TV and dinosaur VHS player have been removed. An updated console has been installed, and the front seats are next.
