I could really use some help!!
I had a leak in my timing cover gasket on my 1993 Ranger. It has the 4.0L V6. I was able to get the cover off to replace the gasket after using a harmonic balancer puller to remove the crankshaft pulley, but now I have no idea how to get the pulley back on.
My thought was that if I could get the center bolt started, I could just tighten it, thereby pushing the pulley back into place. But, the bolt isn't long enough, or I can't get the pulley far enough on by hand. I have looked for a longer bolt the same size, but I'm coming up empty, and I don't know if my theory will even work.
Obviously, I am a novice at auto repairs, and I'm really hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew.
Any advice you could provide would be very helpful.
