New battery

I'll try and make this short. I'm going to buy an new auxiliary battery 65N from Walmart. I like the price and free installation. It' under the van (Advanced Auto etc. can't do this). My question is. After the battery is installed, how will I know it's any good until the main battery goes dead. Should I have the main battery disconnected for a few months to make sure it's not going to fail soon. Will this be the right thing to do? BTW, there is a switch to control main or aux. battery.

Not sure what system you have, and what the purpose of the aux battery is. Does it have a isolator system? A relay system? A smart relay system? The battery just rides along and does nothing unless you need to switch it over to start?

I did figure it out. If the aux. battery is dead it will draw power off the main battery and in the process killing it. So the bottom line is I need a new aux. battery. BTW the aux. is use for a power door and remote controlled wheelchair lift. The receiver must draw a lot of power. Just out out curiosity would you know what the main battery covers. I know one is the power door locks, what else?

I am assuming by "main" battery you mean the one that runs the van? It sounds like you do not have a isolator or relay, and you need one. When you turn the key off, the two batteries need to be separated so the one does not affect the other when the engine is not running.
