Is this normal
84 F250 351w 4spd My clutch does not disengage until about 1" from the bottom of pedal travel, It works fine, just seems too far down. New to truck so is it supposed to be that far down?

No, it shouldn't be that far down. One problem these trucks have is that the firewall cracks from flexing. Have someone operate the clutch and you watch the clutch master cylinder to see if it moves forward/aft.

Not much movement but it did seem to flex. After further investigations it seems someone has tried to fix where the bottom bolt on the master cylinder has pulled thru the firewall. This was accomplished by a strip of steel on the outside of the firewall that the bottom master cylinder bolt was bolted to and the upper end was held by the upper master cylinder bolt and lower portion was held by bolt in steering column flange. The only cracks I see are on the inside of the cab around the lower master cylinder bolt that pulled thru the firewall. What is a better fix for this problem?
