Well, some of the offers I've had are going to make it very tempting to just flip it. I have thought of replacing my aging Aerostar picker van dd but don't think I can live with the 10-11 mpg these are famous for. At this point, probably sell it and use the $$ to get my 40 tonner panel project launched.
I have followed some ancient threads on the Pathfinders but there was way too much to absorb. I went out and looked at the body tags today and there is no info in any of the spaces at the bottom of the door post ID. All of the spaces for color codes ect. are blank. Any rhyme or reason to that?
looks cool, is the diff centred under the front? is this a "V" drive front?
why would it only get 10-11mpg? biggest engine these vans came with a 302?
Not the V drive, those were called a VX4 and not made by Pathfinder. This has a Dana 44 front, same as an F-250 but with coil spring suspension. Dana 20 T-case.
I suppose they only get 10-11 because it takes a certain amount of fuel to propel a big heavy box, no matter what size the engine is. They only got 15 or so in stock 2wd form.
I don't really want to mention the offers but not quite on par with my ebay completed listings search. I'm thinking it could be worth $5000+. What do you think?

That's about the ballpark figure I was thinking. If it went on Ebay, it might get crazy with those low miles as long as there isn't any rust and it runs good. I'm totally jealous, by the way.

The Ford tag? Probably because it was sold as an unfinished vehicle since it was going to be converted to an ambulance.
I had a '73 E200 2wd with a 302 and it got about 12-14 mpg so 10-11 sounds about right with the 4wd conversion. We have come a long way with fuel injection and overdrive transmissions. People that were not driving in the 70's don't have the memory of when a Pinto got great mpg when it would actually crack 20 mpg on the freeway.
Good luck with the van, whether or not you keep it. Sitting in either of the front seats was pretty tedious for any length of time in the flatnose vans and I would hate to hit the front end hard in any kind of accident.
I would think that you could bring in some good money like $5k or more with it from the right person. You can spend $5k for an engine rebuild these days.
Ah , Pintos......I used to buy them for a hundred bucks when they were not running , put a timing belt on one ( in about 20 minutes) in the sellers driveway and drive them away to resell.
but I digress.......I'd get it running decent and flip it ASAP.
I have an almost identical 1973 Quadravan ex-ambulance. Mine came out of Wyoming. I have lots of info if you have any questions. Do you have any more pictures of yours? I can help with decoding the data tag on the door if you want to send me a picture of it. I also have lots of info posted in the "Quadravan" section of the "Econoline Message Board". Very nice score!
