Alcoa doesn't drill their 22.5 wheels to the f450 bolt pattern. You will need an adapter to run them. Unless you know someone?

AmericanForce however does but they are pricey. Set of 6 wheels around $5500.00

I just spoke with my neighbor he has 285/75 22.5 lo profile. He said he would has been thinking about going to the taller tires but doesn't think he has the clearance.

The downside is the initial cost...upside is longjevity of tread wear....other down side is stickiness of the tread...more likely to slide on wet and snowy ground...

Sorry, I'm not buying that. With the correct tread the semi tires have great traction. With larger fat tires they float on snow which is bad traction and semi tires being like pizza cutters they cut through the snow in which gives you traction. On ice your screwed either way.

With a 20,000 lbs rig on them and/or 40,000 lbs load yes....with a 6,000 lbs truck not so much....the friction generates heat which softens the rubber... think motorcycle tires...the hotter the more grip....

This is also why I am against nitrogen inflation.... keeps the tire cooler aka harder and improves fuel mileage... but increases stopping distance...

I am in the south and not much snow down here but the wheel upgrade will give me a lot more mile pulling my camper, that is the main reason for the upgrade. I have put as much as 1100 miles in a month pulling it and the Continental tires are good but they dont last long.

guys I want to go from standard F450 2008 bolt pattern with an adapter to the 10 by 285.75 Big Rig bolt pattern so I can get 22.5 inch wheels and put big rig tires on my F450 that has an 8 inch lift kit. Where can I get these adapters?

I'm a new guy here but have had 22.5 on SRW and DRW trucks on F350's , Dodge 3500's and GMC 3500 trucks . Ford Straight axle trucks always seemed to handle the bigger wheels better . Brake and fuel milage have a huge relation to your driving , if your not stopping and go driver I have seen less than 5% fuel loss difference .
On the other hand have seen guys eat up brakes and 15% or more fuel milage loose .
Don't forget 1300 for the wheel adapters .
I just picked up a low milage 2016 F-450 and for me 245/70R19.5 TOYO is a great combination , I'm only towing big boats and do as I say and not as I do .
Another factor is where you live as far as tires , if its dry and flat your golden and can run just about any tire , get into the cold and snowy and wet Northeast you have to choose wisely .
Most guys that do 22.5 pic the wrong tire and get stuck on wet grass with there hard compound tires .
You can mount 285's on 6" have done it for guys that don't tow any heavy loads with show and not go trucks . The manufactures require 6.50 or wider and I would say the same with a truck thats working .
I have built a lot of custom trucks over the years and if your just out for looks or towing the boat 22.5s look cool but real world used 2015 /2016 F-450 with the big dana s130 is the only set up 22.5 with the right gear I would use 22.5 on .
Thats just my 2$
