Two 351W Questions

(1)I remember on early 351Ws ('69-'70) that there was a problem with cracking of pistons on the number 8 cylinder, I really never found out why this happened, are the later 351Ws doing the same thing??

(2)How many miles can I expect out of a '95 351W that hasn't been worked hard, and has been well taken care of?? (I'm looking at a F150 with 123k on the clock)

Thanks!! Rick

Two 351W Questions

If possible go get a compression tester and see what you come up with they only cost $20. This would give you a rough idea of what kind of shape it is in valve, piston ring wise. I have seen well taken care of engines go bad for no reason hard to judge the metal strength. If you continue to drive the vehicle as it is used too then it should continue to operate fine for quite a few more miles. There is an old theory that if you drive a used vehicle a little harder than the person before then you can expect something to go. Good luck hope it works out for you

Two 351W Questions

I have a 95 F-150 X-Cab that the original 351w engine was just rebuilt, I took better care of that motor than I did myself and I kid you not, she got 238218 miles before she gave out. Just keep doing what your doing and it will go on for a long time. If your wondering
how I got that many, I am a donations manager of a homeless shelter and put alot of miles on her daily. I regret to say that a week ago
I was hit head on by a GMC and my girl is gone. But the engine is still good. So, I need a replacement body. Take care of that truck and it will take care of you. I can say this, I was doing about 10 mph
and she was doing at least 45 and I walked away with a few aches and a
scratch on the nose from the airbag.
Hope you can get your answers you are looking for.
Angela
