Trouble Codes??
Jeepin: Its my understanding that this truck DOES NOT have a computer .I had a truck as you describe and it had no computer or PLUG for a scanner. What type codes are you looking for?

Trouble Codes??
I borrowed a friend's code reader and the manual. I called the maker of the reader and they told me its near the charcoal filter or something...but I've pretty much looked at every corner and hole. I also thought there was no computer, but the book says there is...I was just trying to pinpoint the reason of my hard cold starts...

Jeepin: the 85 5.0 efi had computer but the non-efi carb version did not.
You indicated in previous post that you had a 4180 holley.It sounds like you need to fix the choke and replace the 3 gasket's under carb. If gaskets causing a vac leak then the choke maynot be strong enough.
If you don't have computer then really no need for codes and code plugs.
Do you have EFI or CARB ?
