What is the best way to access the dash light bulbs for replacement? I have a 94' F-150 and have never had to replace a dash bulb yet in this truck or any other, believe it or not. A guy at work who runs our 94' just questioned me about it this afternoon and we will probably be working on it tomorrow. Just thought that I would ask before I venture into this rig. Are there any tricks or things that I need to know before I remove the guage cluster?
Thanks for any input. Jake.
its not hard.remove the 2 thin insets on either side of the wheel, remove the screws, pull the dash panel out a bit and disconnect the fuel selector, pul dash panel out, unscrew the inst. cluster, and the bulbs should be a quarter turn plastic plug. not sure if u have to unscrew spedo cable or not. just be careful with the inset clips, they break easily
cut me and i'll bleed ford blue

i have done this a couple of times. once to put in a factory tach and once to replace the bulbs. the hardest thing for me, believe it or not, was the removal of the headlight and wiper *****. kinda tricky without the right tool. my truck is an 88 but yours shouldn't be that different. the speedo connection is child-proof so beware of that too. it takes a little fiddling to get it off but is easy. bulbs just pop out no sweat. most of the trim panels just pop off as well but be really gentle and make sure all screws are out before prying. if they don't pop off with ease then you have definately missed a screw.
My 93 has an electric speedo so no cable. The headlight switch has a small hole in the ****. I inserted a small nail to release the **** from the switch rod. Probably the easiest dash I have ever removed, now my wifes Mazda van in another thing altogether.....
