Navigator liftgate material?

Hi all,
I met another Navigator owner yesterday and he said a bodyman told him that on his 2008 that his liftgate was made out of stainless steel.

I have a 2007 and am pretty sure mine is made using a composite material. We both agree that the hood is composite on both trucks.

Anybody out there know for sure what material the Navigator liftgate is made out of?

aluminum. He must have had a unicorn build his if it's stainless steel.

Thanks, aluminum makes sense to me. More so than stainless steel or composite. Aluminum would be stronger than composite and stainless steel would be overkill.

yet if it was s.s. or composite, we might not have the problems of paint bubbling after a year or so of ownership
