H&S tuner question

Ok guys,My Truck IS tuned by and H&S Mini Maxx, the tuner got fried in a rain strorm and is dead as can be. The truck is still under the dead programmers tuning. I have found another H&S that is the same version and will be using it to tune going forward.

I assume its very simple just have the new programmer in hand and get my truck flashed back to stock and then use new tuner to reprogram truck back to where i want it to be?

Let me know if there is an easier way or better way please!

That's the only way I know of. Check with the H&S board and see if it will work just to install and go. But if the H&S software is updated or not the same as what you had, it'll have to be flashed back to OE and go from there.

That's what I thought, I know the truck is technically VIN locking the dead programmer and it is still carrying that tune so cant override I wouldnt think. I have access to flash back to stock so I shouldnt have any problems.

Shouldnt I be able to plug the new one in Immediatley upon recieveing it and verify that it is unlocked and the correct version and what not, without installing a new tune to the truck? Or should I take a stock truck and plug it into that truck and verify?

I think it will be fine and show setting screen just fine on my tuned truck and then can go get flashed to stock then reprogram it!

Yeah, should show you if it's Vin locked regardless. So good to check first.

Question is why go through all that trouble....Truck is tuned with the tune you want right? It's running good right? So why not just leave it the way it is? Unless you regularly change tune levels for heavy towing or something.

If I never towed it would not have been a problem. It was tuned though and on the highest setting on the Wild package. I tow enough that I have to be able to control the levels daily.
