My First Build 1950 F1

Just got my first classic car build. A 1950 Ford F1 that is a one family owner. Garage Kept its whole life. It is (for the most part) all original from bumper to bumper. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on restoring the beauty. Going to restore it back to factory condition. Have it drivable. Ordered a few things I dont have from LMC Truck. Any good leads on someone to get the wood bed slats from? Thanks for the input

Welcome to FTE!

Looks like you scored a nice truck there. That looks like it may be the original seat?

Oh Dude what a nice truck. It's great that you plan on doing a restore, but please oh please as long as it's safe to drive brakes etc. drive it at least for a while b4 you take it out of service. you wont regret it. Congratulations on finding such a wonderful truck, and welcome to FTE, your new home. "edit" I would suggest ordering catalogs from all the main suppliers for your truck, they are listed on the net if you click 48-50 F1 parts. Just a few Classic Haulers, Sacramento vintage Ford, Dennis Carpenter , LMC, Macs, and don't forget to get a repair manual, and a master parts manual if possible, these are sold by most all the suppliers I mentioned. There are many suppliers out there hopefully others will offer the names of some of there favorites.

Thanks, yea the first thing i did was replace all the brake lines, hoses and wheel cylinders. Took me $115 to get her running. It runs a bit rich so I have some carb studying to do. Been driving her the past couple of days. waiting on my new gas tank so i only have a gallon of gas for now lol.. cant go far

Welcome to the forum! That's a nice looking truck you have, and it sounds like it found a good home. Where are you located?

Very nice truck! You did not post a picture inside the bed, however, it looks like the bed is a 48 to earlier 50 bed with the raised side panels not the flat panels (where the rear fenders mount). If it is the earlier bed, the bed floor originally would have had metal over wood such that you would only see the wood from underneath the bed. Post a picture of the inside of the bed showing the bed floor.

Hey Sped,
We got our '50 bed slats from Midwest Early Ford.
Great to see another '50 getting saved!
Looking good over there in West Virginia!

(Nice to have you guys in The Big 12).

Welcome that is a great looking truck. Remember it is only original once so if you can refresh it without reprinting or replacing parts it will keep it original. Enjoy it and Have fun

Is that red really original? It looks like it has pearl or metallic in it

No, the truck has been repainted in a non-stock color. The grille would have been argent - it now matches the body.

SpedKid -
The parts all look to be in place - and original. That's a great start. As for bed wood kits, many have been satisfied with these folks: Home page Horkey wood and Parts

Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

The bed does have the metal floor which isnt in great shape. The wood is still on the underside. That is why I plan on taking the metal out and putting an oak floor in
