86 300 carb issue
Had the carb tore down and cleaned about a month ago. Im not getting fast idle on cold start and it chugs and lopes down around 4-500rpm on cold start. I can smell it rich on cold start. Now if i keep rpm up after 20-30sec it idles and runs like new money.
Any ideas? Feedback stuff isnt working but itll be swapped soon.

Who tore it down? There is a lot of little things over in the choke area that can be put together wrong or left off.
Look at the choke door on top of the carb with the aircleaner off. The more the door is closed, the faster the idle. As it opens, the idle gets slower.

My cousin, he works in a race shop. I dont think the choke is setting. I adjusted it to slightly open on a cold start but it never fast idled after that one time. I dont think its closing when i prime it on cold start.

You need to go ahead and adjust it so it's shut. It should have a vacuum diaphragm with a arm that when the engine starts and builds vacuum, the arm will crack the choke open just a little bit so it will keep running.
