So I had to take the dash off to replace the light switch one day, and I noticed how the stereo was installed. Definently not how they are today. Looks like I'm going to have to modify something to install a new reciever.
I'm sure someone's done this before. How did you do this?
Any ideas of where else I might instal the stereo?
I've actually though of mounting the reciever to a rack that would fold up under the dash somehow, but that would take some more work that it's probably worth.
I did install a sony indash cd player in the stock location of my 74 f-100. Just have to cut plastic and the 2 buttons stock radio steel plate. Just take your time cause there not mutch material left after cutting it (steel plate) on the side of the radio cage.
You can also purchase a radio sized box to attatch under the box. They have a din-size slot, and are made of steel/aluminum. You can install you new radio very easily if you dont want to modify anything. I will post the company#/website as soon as i find it.
