I should have known better than this, but I assumed. One of the things we discuss often in this forum is the relationship between the colors on the seven pin and the functions in the towable and, of course, blue should always be brakes.
So one of my dealers tows back in with a fiver where the seven pin cord has been torn off and asks me to put it back on. It had already been attached at the repo auction sort of, but he said he had no trailer brakes on the way back in.
No problem right? Just match up the colors of the seven pin cord to those in the J box and I should be good to go. so I tie it all back together and try things out and the controller in my truck shoots me the "no trailer" sign and I have no turn signal on the passenger side. Everything else works.
I figure I must have missed something with my wiring so I check everything and all is well. Next I figure my truck seven pin must be bad, so I put my tester on it and it is good. Next I figure I must have a bad cord to truck connection so I check that and I have power down all the appropriate colors in relation to function from my truck.
Anyway to cut to the chase, the blue lead in the fiver j box fed the turn signal and the brown was feeding the brakes. Never thought of that one on the front end.
