help, please?

Hopefully I'll get some good feedback. Got a 95 f 150 with 5.8. Takes spells of being hard to start and today running 65mph down the highway it just died. Wouldn't restart. Just wind over. Went back 90 minutes later to tow it and it fired right up. Brought it in on a roll back any way. Fired right up again. No check engine light. No stored code. Checked fuel pressure on both tanks Saturday and both run 32- 35 lbs pressure. Thoughts, the pressure regulator on the fuel rail? Or pickup coil?

Welcome to FTE.

What you describe makes me want to say electrical, and ignition items in particular.

And that might could be the TFI module. When mine quit, it quit for good out of the blue. Some die a thousand times, and come back 999 times before they give it up just as you pull on to a rail crossing.

'95 was the last year, so check for what you have, try it and see what happens.

Serving suggestion, good luck with it.

problem solved.

Decided to replace the module ( mine is located on the driver inner fender well), and the pick up coil. Once the distributor was removed, I found the upper bushing (factory, 215,000 miles) was to the point of seizure. Close call. The engine didn't make any noise as warning. Entirely new ignition system goes in tomorrow morning. Thank you for your help.

It sounds like it's heat related, and definitely points to something electronic. The TFI module would be a good suspect.

The first 3 pics in this album shows my modifications to the TFI module in my Mustang:

I never really had a problem, so this was just precautionary.
