1993 ranger 4wd issue

So I bought my first ford a couple weeks back and it's a 93 5 speed with the 3.0. It's got 4wd with the automatic transfer case. This one has a 10 pin connector with 7 wires coming off the electric motor going to the connector. Then 3 more wires comin off the connector to another part of the transfer case. I can't find the 10 pin replacement electric motor anywhere not even the ford dealership or junk yards. Just tryin to get some advice on this situation. I've got a few options I've been thinkin about. Like rebuilding the electric motor or putting in a new transfer case. What have some of you guys done to solve this issue. What's even the reason for them to have this 10 pin connector and why did they go away from it to the 7 pin connector? Thanks
-Tony

Does your 10 pin connector on your current transfer case motor have all ten pins/sockets populated? It sounds to me like it does, if I understood your description. If so, I think this is whats going on (assuming it's like my '98 Explorer). Those 3 wires go to speed sensors (one might go to ground). On my Explorer, if I remember correctly, the ground wires from the sensors are spliced together near the connector before they go off to the ground back at the computer.

Those speed sensors don't get changed when you change the motor. So, you have to remove the pins for the speed sensors from your old transfer case motor and insert them into the connector for the new transfer case motor. You have to be careful how you remove the pins. There's probably a video on youtube.

Trace those wires and see where they go. The transfer case motor instructions should include these details.

Thanks I'll check that method out
