1996 F150 OBDII code P0305
It seems most noticeable at low speed, at idle and right off idle. I pulled the #5 plug wire, started the engine, and it was worse but not significantly so.
Engine vacuum is good, ~21" and rock steady.
Sprayed carb cleaner around the #5 intake runner and engine face with no change in idle.
Checked the plug and it looked okay, replaced it anyway. Resistance on the plug wire is good and the plug is firing. Hooked up a timing light just to see how it looked and noticed the timing mark (and crank sensor indicator) jumping around maybe 5-10°, not at all steady, which I presume is a symptom of the misfire.
Which would seem to be pointing towards the fuel system. Since replacing an injector would require removing the upper intake I'd rather not. A Ford dealership just did an induction service about a month ago so it theoretically shouldn't be clogged but could be. Any way to check without removing the injector? Any other suggestions?
Might hafta pull the valve cover, or even that side cover by the distributor...
But, then bad valve would show up on the vacuum gauge, wouldn't it. I'm outta ideas! sorry
