Service Engine and #3 coil problem
Took the motorhome out for a test run after installing Gibson Cat-Back exhaust and B&M Transmission temp. gauge. Engine started running rough and then the "Service Engine Soon" light came on.
I pulled into a rest area and connected scanner to OBD connecter. Got code P0353 = #3 coil primary/secondary failure.
Pulled off #3 coil expecting to find plug out, but plug was tight.
Checked coil with ohm meter about 1.5 ohm, same as several others I checked. Reinstalled all coils and turned key on to scan again and clear code. Started engine everything working ok..no light, no missing, no codes! I did notice that the 9/32' hex bolt that holds down the coil was looser than the others. Where the bolt goes through the coil there is a brass insert. Is this a ground for the coil??? or do I need to look further?
There is some great information on this Forum!
Thanks...Ray
I swapped out my plugs at 100k miles and tore one of my plug boots and had to get a new coil pak....$ 80 bucks...
I thought that the wires with the conectors are something to look at.

Why did you have to replace the entire coil pack just because you tore the boot? The boots are available by themselves. I should know, I just replaced all ten of mine!
showed me screen with all the parts list on it and I even called a budy who lives in NY and deals in fords. he said they dont sell just the boots. This was last year.
Do you have a part # ?? if so I have a good coil pak that needs a boot..

Let me check for you. I had them replaced at my dealer a couple of weeks ago, and I believe the part number is on my service invoice. I will post it this evening.
Okay, finally found my invoice. Here is the part number for the spark plug boots: F7TZ-12A402-AA
These were $3.55 a piece, ten costing $35.50. If I am not mistaken, these should be what you need. If I can help you any further, let me know!
