Hello, I was told by my mechanic I need a new harmonic balancer on my 1999 F350 V10 motor. His parts suppliers couldn't get one, and the dealer said it was discontinued and unavailable through them. Does anyone know where I can buy one? I am finding them for the 5.4L motor on ebay, but I am assuming it is different for the 6.8L. Haven't been able to locate one yet so any suggestions would be appreciated.
The engine has been vibrating for about a month. The mechanic said he could see a component of the balancer coming apart and would only get worse if i ignore it.
I dont have any experience with harmonic balancers on this engine, but I've done a lot of business with this mechanic. He has always been honest, and correct with his diagnostics.
Thank you, it is apparently a very difficult part to locate. I was able to find one with the guys at horizonpartsguy.com but it was pretty expensive 300.00. Thanks for the help.
