Thinking about deleting!

Been doing a lot of reading and talking to the neighbor who happens to be a Ford diesel mechanic and think he about has me talked into doing the deletes. Think he a package deal with SCT x4 I believe, also flowpro exhaust with muffler. Hope that will eliminate that terrible howling noise, love the turbo sound but not the howl.

Second idea was the EGR delete? I hear this is illegal in all 50 states but sure seems like there are a lot of people doing it.

Any input or advice would be great, also a round about cost for just parts as labor will only cost Miller Lite.

Just to clarify removing any part of the emissions equipment is illegal in all 50 states. That being said if you get rid of the dpf you might as well do the egr while your at it.

Yea guess I didn't think that through really! Got any advice on keeping the howling noise reduced or removed?

Only real option is a muffler. Look into the 30" mbrp muffler with 4" in and out. I use that along with another member and there's no howling noise.

I think that is the one that I noticed you guys talking about on another thread, I guess it will work with flo pro exhaust systems. I already have MBRP dpf back now might even find a way to just work this into what is there now.

I have the 4" Flo~Pro with a resonator, no howling. X2 on the EGR delete, at least block it off, at most, it's $170.00 more, or ~$70.00 for the plates. With SCT X4, you'll need to purchase tunes to delete, but most places you purchase from will take care of that in the price of the tuner, I also suggest a seperate monitor as the x4 is a flash tuner only. The SCT Livewire (same flash tuner) is also a monitor.
On edit, I would say get a delete pipe & resonator (if you want to tone it down), but unless you have the equipment to modify to add the resonator, it would be less expensive to just purchase the downpipe back kit, than to purchase the delete pipe and muffler and having a muffler shop fit it for you. You can always sell the dpf back system, or do like me a pile up with the rest of the extra chit!

Same here....following this thread with interest. It will cost me $2,600 for parts and labor including a muffler package to keep it as quiet as possible.

If loss of warranty, state inspections, and difficulty in trading the used truck are not issues, you should go for it. Not sure there is a downside. More power, better gas mileage, and your truck becomes more dependable.

I read recently here that in some areas a deleted truck carries more value in the used market. While I would have trouble owning a truck without warranty, license plate, and my dealer would not take it in trade, this does not apply to all parts of the country.

Delete, enjoy, and never look back!!!

Do you remember the part number for the resonator? Will the MBRP muffler work with the Flo-Pro exhaust and resonator? Or best to just use all Flo-Pro resonator and muffler?

As long as it's a 4" pipe it will fit..you may have to cut the pipe for the muffler to fit. My exhaust is a flo pro dpf delete pipe, mbrp muffler to a mbrp tail pipe

I have my Flo-Pro exhaust kit with muffler sitting in my shed, just saving up the dough for the tuner, it's painful to see it sitting there but I must be patient. I look forward to being deleted and not having to worry about a sensor failure ruining my day.

It came with the downpipe back system. You can go the the Flo~Pro website and look up the individual muffler / resonator part #'s.FLO~PRO - Diesel Mufflers
