Well fellas, I hit 2k miles last nite and a moderator told me my first oil change should be before 3k I plan on doing one every3k after that, however I plan on using synthetic oil , Mobil 1 actualy.
Its what everyone here seems to agree on.
Can someone tell me if I need a special oil filter for it or what kind should I get?
With my other truck , a 98 Ranger and 86 GMC I would just take them to Jiffy Lube so I dont know what all they do , I plan on taking the Superduty there to but I'll BYOO( bring your own oil) Mobil1.
ANy thoughts suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thx in advance fellas.
Stick with the Motorcraft filters you don't need a special one. I would also not take your new truck to the local Jiffy lube or any other quick oil change place. Do it yourself. Very easy to do and you know the job will be done right. There are countless horror stories from owners who took their vehicles to the quick lube.
Mobil 1 is good oil but I would hold off until the motor has broken in before going to synthetic. I am sure there will be some other opinions on this but I am sure they will all agree on the filter and the quick lube.
hmmm, guess no Jlube, I like it cuz I thought they check everything else as well and grease things up, although one time I tooke in my Ranger and the bent my 1/4 panels by putting the lifts on the fender instead of frame.
Wal-Mart sells the oil filters and Mobil oil cheap. I usually buy the 5qt container and a 1qt plus the filter. Less than $30 for the whole thing. If you belong to SAM'S CLUB they have the 6-pack oil in the auto section.
If you change your oil often the type you yse is of little improtance. Fram filters clog up we all know that but they only clog up after the oil gets dirty so don't let it get dirty. Good oil is good oil change it often. If you let someone else change it watch the process and make sure it is done right. then check the oil level. I know guys who sweare by one brand of oil and have never seen it do anything another oil willnot.
Now if I plan a trip where it will be hot or high and hot and I will be towing. I gofo the best oile around. But for day to day driving Ford says that Ford oil the cheapest oil you can make is good for 100,000 miles.
