i havent watched animal planet in 6 months now, they were constantly making little remarks that were anti- hunting, or anti- gun.example, they introduced a host as " And now, The man who drives around with deer hunters tied on to his hood". Isnt it nice that they are instilling such good values into our kids?
Interesting article from THE WASHINGTON POST written by a black reporter (printed in THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS), "It isn't firearms that disproportionately harm black people - black people disportionately harm black people. I can't help concluding that fokes that really care about the health of besieged communities should concentrate on the shooters instead of the guns". Not bad for the so called "liberal media".

This from someone who did not read the article, and has no possible way of knowing what he "probably wants".
To edify you, his premise was that anger, not guns is a cause of the violence and guns should not be blamed. Right or wrong, he supported his argument without any "probably".

I suppose since Allen Colmes is on Fox news they're not slanted to the right then? Is that an accurate statement.
If you believe the Washington Post is an unbiased media outlet that's your business. I notice that it's you on here quoting it. Seems like quite a coincidence given your known political views.
way i see it if american people let one amend. go down in flames the rest are sure to follow 1 by 1 if it can happen to 1 sure can happen to the rest of them dont think so ? well just listen to the phrases and wording polititions use slick and sly for sure the press also twist words into whole different meaning just because something is printed or said on tv lot of people still think that its got to be true this is our USA some over seas countrys want us (USA) to do away with the 2nd amend. all together I dont think so yall take care now ya hear
Rrmike - Sorry if "fokes" shut you down. I tend to type (2 fingers) phonetically and I often make errors - most FOLKS have no problem understanding me though. My point was that I do not understand why the quote could not simply stand as it was written without having an ulterior motive attached. Call me gullable, but I believe that people of all persausions often mean what they say.
Trading opinions with people that agree with you can be boring and I enjoy and learn from the exchanges on the forum with those that differ. Please know that disagreement does not mean disrespect and I meant nothing personal.

Originally posted by AegisSailor I am all for the Second Amendment and I am a gun lover too. However, I do not think that Joe Hunter or Jim Home Protector needs an automatic assault rifle! Military weapons need to stay with the Military and Law Enforcement. They might be fun to shoot but there is no pratical reason for private citizens to own them.
In the country of my parents' birth, Finland, it is not only legal, but *mandatory* for all males of a certain age to own a military style weapon. Any male, between the age of 18 and 40, is considered a member of their army reserves.
Finland is a small country of 5,000,000 people, next door to Russia, a country of 280 Million -- and who has a reputation as being a bully. In 1939, the Soviet Union invaded Finland. Finland, quite honestly, sent them packing. This was somewhat due to the fact that Finland had an armed population. (And it probably helped that Finns are a stubborn and ornery people. The Finns were also invariably helped by the fact that the Russians were a bunch of bumbling morons who never could accomplish anything other than machine gunning train cars full of little kids being evacuated from the front.)
To get to the point, and stop harping about "Sisu" and toughness and other things Finnish, Finland has an extremely low crime rate. In Helsinki, I have walked the streets any time of night with no worries at all. Oddly enough, even though you are allowed to own a gun there, I never felt like I needed one.
Conversely, in California, where we supposedly have the most "progressive" gun control in the US, we have an extremely high crime rate, and I find myself wishing I had a right and means for self-defense.
Semi-Automatic weapons do not lead to a higher crime rate. Countries such as Finland, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland, where it's legal to own and often carry them, help proove this. It may be a specious arguement to assume that gun ownership equals safer streets. The fact is these countries do not have the underlying social problems the US does. However, I believe that legalized gun owership, and the right to carry them, contributes greatly to their reduced crime rates.
