exhaust set-up

Sell the stuff to another Stang owner....
It's nice to recycle, but if it's just to save a couple hundred bucks...
The hassle of trial fitting everything....
A nice set of Air Flow Research Heads deserves better! Get ahold of AFR and ask their rec. for your application. They'll appreciate the feed back.
Talk with you later....
First is your truck an A4 or M5 (transmission)? Are the parts from the 'Stang from an A4 or M5 'Stang?
Next if his long tubes are for a M5 vechicle they won't fit an A4 truck...unless they are made by MAC. MAC sucks so don't use them.
Allright, someone using AFR heads! Attaboy!
Here's the set of headers I'd go with if you are going to be installing the AFR-165's... http://broncograveyard.com/products/cat/20/222/30054 I believe those to fit the 80-95 trucks, I'd call to make sure. All the other available have a 1.5" primary which is fine for stock heads but with the larger ports of the AFR you want at least a 1.625 exhaust primary. High flow cats hamper power by 4-6rwhp, very very insignificant. I run them, makes it that much better by being emission legal when you go to whoop-some-***.
I'd go with 2.5" piping. 2.25" would be okay if you were doing heads and mild cam only with stock displacement.
Glad someone else is using Magnaflow also! They have a some 2.5" dual in and 2.5" dual out mufflers that would negate you buying another X-pipe as they have it built in...

My WRX is getting a huge power boost around next Saturday. I picked up a used Unichip here for $250 shipped and it raises the boost by 3psi and adjusts the fuel and timing too. That adds up to ~35whp...or close to 275hp up from 227hp!

I think we should concentrate our efforts on Mopar, many of those are pathetically slow.
When are you going to the track and give us some 1/4 times?
I agree about the Mopars also. They've come a long way in the trim and paint department! HEE HEE!
Talk with you later....
Times in the F-150? Prolly only go to the 1/8th mi track. I figure depending on what heads I go with mid to high 9 sec range with the stock crank, rods, pistons. I have seen KILLER deals on Edelbrock heads as well as GT-40X ones...once I get the cash up I will decide on what to go with.
As it stands, I need this stuff installed pretty soon (within a few weeks): water pump, 180* thermo, axle gridle, then TFI module, intake spacer, and adjust TPS. I am also gonna port the stock TB, by pass the Smog pump, install smaller alternator pulley, get some new tailpipes, and try to find an inexpensive dual electric fan setup. My old fan I got from a '96 GT is too small for my application...
When the truck goes in for surgery towards years end, it's getting: 4.10:1s, Eaton, Stainless brake lines, Urethane motor mounts, 212/218 cam, 1.7:1 rollers, and undecided heads for ~$500.

I think I'm going to have to rent a decent garage or barn. I'm getting too old to be pushing vehicles around any more! HEE HEE!
Are the rockers 1.7:1 a FORD item? They just came out with the 1.6:1 a couple of years ago! There must be quite a hp increase between the two. Talk with you later....
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Sears occasionally has deals on compressors. I picked up a 110V 30 gal (I think that's the size) for ~$300 with some accessories! I have a few different impact guns, cut off tool, air saw, die grinder, etc. All I really need now is a few gear wrenches, crows feet, and torque wrenches in ft-lbs.
You won't catch me doing the gears and posi! That is one place I dare not go...and brakes. I will mess with anything electrical and fuel related. I am still debating on the head and cam swap myself. If I have the time I may do it, it will require lots of research and reading if I decide to do it or not.
Ford included Crane made 1.7 rockers on the 93-95 Cobra Mustangs. They typicaly sell for $100-130 used. Crane still sells them new for ~$200. They just increase lift a bit giving more power by the higher ratio and less friction.
