Excursion Forum Member Map?

Is it possible to have a map that we can input the cities we live in and it will show pushpins in that location?

I have set one up.

https://www.zeemaps.com/FTE_Excursion_Members

you must click on "Map Access" in the top right corner and enter "EXcursion" and click "unlock" to add a location to the map.

To add a pushpin; Scroll over "Additions" on the tool bar and click "add marker - simple". Use your screen name as the entry name and only type your city and state as the location.

You can also go to "View" and click on "Show List" and it will give you the names of all the pushpins.

I know many of us travel a lot and also the topic has came up about leap frogging items to one another. This would give us the option to meet more of us face to face when traveling. Since we type in our location in our profile, I don't think the issue of privacy or security would come up.

If needed, I can also PM the admin password for the map to the admins here on the forum.

What do you guys think?

If this is allowed, then maybe sticky? Then members can update it with their location if they would like.

While I think that this is generally a good idea.... the problem I see is so many members seem to come and go. They join and participate when they are new to excursions, and then they are gone and never return. We will certainly end up with a ton of push pins from people who will never end up returning a PM when their assistance is needed.

Hey, What do ya know! If I follow the very clear simple directions it works.
I'm an idiot at times, but if kind people use small words and speak slowly even I can understand and accomplish complex tasks such as this.

This is very true. We will be able to remove pins when needed though. Having the pin label as our screen name will help us see which members are more likely to help or at least which ones are more active.

Cool idea. Entered.

Maybe in description you can list details about capabilities indifferent areas....extra indoor vehicle space, lift, mechanical abilities, willingness and time window to travel to help, phone number (call or text preference)......things you think may help those traveling or in need during an emergency.

Other one removed. Please remember that this is still visible by anyone. Do you want your number on this?

Done. I think it's a great idea just to see where everyone is and possibly help each other out.
