Door Speakers
I've got my door panels off to replace my mirrors.
I want to replace the front door speakers with something new, and just a tad better than OEM without getting crazy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Guys!

KICKER Co-axials are a noticeable improvement in bass and not as tinny in the highs as the tri-axials if you don't have an EQ. You can get 4 for about $80-100.

Just about anything is an improvement over OEM. I got a set at Walmart when one of mine went out and couldn't believe how much better they sounded.

Heck, two tin cans and a string would not be much of a downgrade from oem, if any!!!

Wow.....I've really never had a problem with the factory speakers, its just that I'm already into the doors and want to do stuff while I'm in there and button it all up for about another 10 years or so....

Sounds like you've done a couple then........are the rears hard to get to and change? I think someone mentioned once that the rear seat had to come out to change them??

I didn't have any complaints either until I changed them out and realized how bad they were.

I changed my fronts-only to Pioneer TS-G6840R in July of 2007.
Far-better sounding, and they were real inexpensive. I got mine on eBay (probably from a ricer who was upgrading to something a little more extreme).
It makes a heckuva difference over the stock ones.
To make the job plug-n-play, no matter what brand you buy, get some Metra 72-5600 adapters. They mate with the OEM Speaker plugs.

So four of those, one for each door on a crew cab will fit with no modifications? Don't our trucks have speakers in the dash as well?

No speakers in dash.
Yes, all four are same. Oval.
If you buy speakers for a Ford / Mazda, they will bolt right in with the same screws.
