Well seeing as how our EGR valve screws onto the pipe from either the intake or the manifold...limiting the EGR flow into the manifold will reduce intake temps, carbon buildup, and give better off idle throttle response.
I recently modified the EGR setup on my Z71 and those points I listed above have happened...I even have unbias sources drive my truck each time I do something to it to get a good answer. The new Chevy ones are easy to fix as you only need a restrictor plate not a fitting.
About mid way down there is a pic of that restrictor fitting. How hard would it be to locate a fitting like the one shown there? Basically something with a narrow ID?
EGR's on newer cars and trucks shouldnt hurt performance. They can actually increase fuel economy and reduce combustion temps. It cools or slows the burn so the computer can advance ignition timing to increase efficiency.
I picked up about .5 MPG by doing this on my GM...I limited the flow to 5/32" from well over 1/2" of EGR gas. Also...GM ditched EGR in '02 and newer vehicles, that's gotta say something.
Looks like I need to just begin searching for that restrictor fitting and when I get it all together I will post up my results if any.
