1999 F150 GEM Module
Looking for a GEM module. 99F150XLT 4x4 5.4l Dealer says part number is XU7Z-14B205-BA but he has none and says back ordered over 2 months.
I looked on E-bay and found 3 GEM modules for a 99F150 4x4 that all had part number YL34-14B205-BA. Will this work? It is same except for first 4 characters. Does anyone know what the first 4 characters represent?

Part numbers aside, the GEM must have a program in it's firmware that matches the original build of the truck.
The dealer can access the trucks original build info from Ford's data center by using the VIN number to get the correct download for that module.
Any different part numbers at this length of time is questionable when trying to get one from some other source unless you have a Ford cross reference.
The module is programmable and used on many models to match the specific builds.
Though you ought to have this insight.
