I was removing spindles from a old frame out back...donating them to a junior brain surgeon who wanted discs on his 65-66) and found this in a sticker bush.
I could swear someone had mentioned something cool to do it other than the obvious polishing. Who was that or what was it?
Maybe it was just restoring but maybe there is an idea somewhere?

Maybe this thread will get no responses.
I think you are referencing Hio when he was talking about adding a second snorkel to an air cleaner.
I bet HIO's is what got that one brain cell wiggling. I like it but I kinda worried the alum bottom half wouldn't take too much abuse. Pretty hard to find the lower with no cracks...around here anyway.
They look like Ford part number D7UZ9B676A. Off Econoline Vans 75/89 351W/460. And 74/76 M450/500 Motorhome chassis. <!-- </span> -->

If using the long snorkels the driver side will hit the oil cap.
This was why, I used the shorty snorkels on both sides exiting the filter housing.
Plus the flex tube is easy to make the hook ups.
My first one was like HIO's all steel but soon found out with the long snorkels tubes the drivers side hit the oil cap. So, cut them off shorter. I got from PnP along with the flex tubing.
The 2th one was a 80's SS housing from a 5.0 but the rear vacuum door started leaking few yrs later on the cold air door diaphragm.
"So if your going to get one with the vacuum door make sure it's good first before you buy it.
How to test it is by Sssuck on the vacuum diaphragm line and see if it will hold a vacuum and not close until you release.
My 3rd one in the pictured below, I built from a mid 80's one that also had the vacuum rear cold air door.
It only opens when theirs no to low dizzy vacuum and stays closed any time my dizzy has any vacuum.

My first one below, just cut off the long snorkels old skool air intake runners .
