I know there must be one out two of us. I have a 1999 2WD Ext Cab long bed with two piece driveshaft. I am getting a little clunking sound at speed when I let of the power and the then apply power. I inspected the driveline and lubed the slip joint. U joints and Carrier bearing seem fine. The only slop I feel is where the front yoke goes into the transmission. If I push up and down I can just feel a little play. I was wondering what's normal?

Where do you feel the play? Is it in the output shaft of the transmission? At the slip joint? At the u joint? Is the play up and down, side to side, in and out?

Pack it full of grease. If it doesn't stop. Replace the U-Joint.

The movement is independent of the u joint and in the splined yoke.... I was just wondering if there is some normal slop or is any slop out of specs...
