The F150 has a juice clutch. Can adapt one to the bell you have?
What was in the F150 before? If it was a MT, you may be able to use the truck bell with an adapter/spacer to make the T5 fit.
Modern Driveline has those, and it may be less trouble than mixing and matching the clutch set up.

I was going to do that conversion in my van, but never got to it. (getting married, kids, house....)
Is your shifter going to be where you want it? You can swap the tailshaft housing and shifter locations with the housing from a Chev S10. T5 stuff interchanges easily.
Good luck with it.
Note the T5 will be at a disadvantage with heavy loads and towing--it will take the torque in the lighter Mustangs, but add lots of weight behind it and you could have an issue. Your rear axle ratio will be important here. At least 3.50s or shorter methinks. 4.10s if you have much of a tire.

This is not being built for towing or heavy hauling, just a general around town little pickup...good point , I failed mention it.
The rear axle will most likely house a 3.55 to 4.1 gear ratio range, so that end is also covered.
He realizes that the shifter mount will need to be relocated with the T5. He want to try to make his own...some how I think I will get saddled with that detail, seeing as dear ole dad is a machinist.
It would be great to get the ZF 5sp...but around here, they're are a bit hard to come by, & something that is decent condition is commanding some pretty good coin. SO he can get a rebuilt T5 with a warrenty for the price of, or cheeper then a "good" ZF.
The former/original tranny was a manual as well, T18 4sp with OD. It was in pretty sad condition with teeth missing in gears and so on. He also anticipates a custom drive shaft .
