I just bought a 1962 Galaxie. Right now it has a 6 cylinder 223. That won't be staying. I am curious if the Y-Block is worth the transplant and if so which one to go with. I don't have any experience with Y-Blocks, but this is a good place to start. The tranny is a Ford-o-matic but that will change. I think I am going to want hardened valve seats so I need to know who makes after market heads for them as well. TIA

Any Y is a bolt in and the 292 is the easiest to get internal parts for. You could also drop in a FE of 352 and up as those were also a stock option.
You will probably need new front springs to handle the weight of either.
No need to go hardened seats on them either, only when getting way up in compression does that factor in.
A Y can use a CruiseOmatic modified with FMX parts or use a C4 with an adapter kit. Later model FE's use the C6.
