I want to thank all of the people that have helped me so far, but i have another problem. I found out that I ran my truck out of oil today, so i went to jiffy lube. I didnt know that i ran it out until 5 o'clock today which isn't what i am concerned about. What i am concerned about is the fact that 40% of the time my truck acts like a four cylinder (Just started Today); hardly any take off power in drive unless I push the gas pedal all of the way to the floor (and sometimes that doesnt work), but i can put the truck in 1st gear (it is an automatic) and it will take off like usual. Other times i can leave it in drive and it will take off fine but struggle shifting gears. Sometimes in idle, it acts like it wants to stall and sometimes i can rev it up and it backfires. Please tell me i did not mess up my trans because I don't have the money to fix that. By the way, I was only 500 miles overdue for an oil change.

I just read a post that was posted about a month ago with almost the exact same problem I have. Could it be the EGR Valve?
I found this:
Hi,
I have been having that problem with my hi miles 300 as well. Mine is a '90 model, which will be the same for this purpose. On the right hand side of the intake, the side w/ the throttle linkage on it, there is a smaller cylindrical part right on top of where the air intake from the air cleaner goes in. This is the idel/low speed air valve, and on mine this valve keeps getting clogged up with gunky oil from blow-by, causing it to run rough, lope and sometimes stall when it is just sitting idling. Runs normal otherwise. I took mine off, cleaned it, and it runs fine now. I know that this is common on these engines with high miles.
Good Luck
Dan

No, you probably fouled some of your lifters with oil residue that had baked onto the inside of the engine, but which flaked off and blocked up the lifters or the pump pickup when it got rinsed with fresh oil. Plus, Jiffy Lube usually puts in 5W30 or something only SLIGHTLY thicker than water, which breaks up deposits even faster than the thicker oil they SHOULD be using on old trucks. Here's what was inside my brother-in-law's engine - he had to get a reman long block.
