Now would be the opportune time to install the water plate to provide heating/cooling to the intake...much easier to do now than after it's in the vehicle.

I like how you test fit everything off the vehicle. That helps you iron out little issues - like the manifold clearance. Good job.

points style reg carb
has exhaust leak and he has to run it without the thermostat it wants to build pressure and fluid will pour out the overflow if I install it. I have tried two new thermostats with no change. that's verbatim from his craigslist add
I wanted a complete motor to tear down and beef up now I do man im loving the 300

I don't have a pick. It's done with a Lokar bracket and cable. I'll try to get a photo in the next day or so. AbandonedBronco or F-250 restorer might have pics too.

That's so sweet! I thought something looked "off" about the body around the engine. A 300 in a Land Cruiser is droolworthy. Why's he taking it out??
Either way, awesome find on our end.

Strange about the thermostat. Maybe a plugged radiator? Water pump that's not circulating well? Dunno.

Here's my Lokar bracket.

I have the DP intake, which necessitates the throttle linkage being toward the firewall.

thanks for the pics
hes putting in a beefy 350 ls1 chevy motor in his landcruiser
and the over flowing coolant issue he suspected head gasket
I don't see any signs of a leak no steam or antifreeze in exhaust system
no oil in coolant no coolant in oil
I suspect bad impeller on water pump or like you said bad radiator its the original for his landcruiser
I left my 50 buck deposit and will pick up this weekend
turns out hes my brothers friend
note its a 78 to 82 motor I think I type differently before

Yeah, I'd check the simple things before jumping to big conclusions.

It was a 48" cable and is the universal Lokar SRK-4000.

The biggest issue I had with it (and would probably be the same with any) was where the cable comes through the firewall.

For some strange reason, Ford has the cable coming in at an angle, and then uses a curved tube to straighten the cable out before it connects to the gas pedal.
It was difficult to get an aftermarket cable to go in straight. I used a bunch of angled washers to level it out.

Something like these:

It'd be mostly the same. However, on the C, you can orient the carb any way you want, so you probably wouldn't need the big, long 48" cable like I did.

I think some have used a stock cable set-up from an E-van and a slightly modified stock bracket. It's been some time since those threads/topics and pics have been front page stuff though.
