I have an E350 van and I need to add a trailer to it- it's small, just need turn signals, markers, and brake lights on a 7 connector. What is best place to tap the wires? There is no factory wiring harness that I could find. van is 2004 e350.
I went and looked under the van. No wiring at all. Should I attempt to identify the parts needed for the OEM towing package, or should I splice in to the wiring to the lights? My trailer only needs the lighting, as it has no power brakes. I appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks,
There was a huge write-up about the original wiring and plugs here somewhere, and the discontinued harness can be had for about $100+ at an OEM Ford place somewhere on the internet, can't remember the name though I went there and found the harness. For a simpler, and cheaper route: I bought a plug-and-play harness from etrailer for around $30. There is an installation video and everything there on site. The reviews are great. This is the way I am going; have the harness, just need to install. Looks easy.
Go to etrailer and put in year, model, trailer wiring, etc. Good luck.
